Senate moves past key obstacle to PEPFAR reauthorization

Senators have reached a tentative agreement that "more than half" of PEPFAR funding would be allocated to treatment. This allocation was a sticking point that has blocked movement on the bill. Now that this agreement is in place, authorization of the bill may come soon. "We should be able to do this quickly and easily and it should be done before President Bush goes to the G-8 Summit next week," said the Senate majority leader.
