Mass. city hopes to benefit from Cape Wind offshore project

The selection of New Bedford, Mass., as the staging area for the Cape Wind offshore-wind project is an excellent opportunity for the city, which is seeking to become a key player in the emerging clean-energy sector, officials said. The city is on track to begin construction in the fall on a $35 million port facility, which will become a staging area for Cape Wind, said Matthew Morrissey, executive director of the New Bedford Economic Development Center.
