Bill funds ITER, slashes basic energy sciences budget

The House Committee on Appropriations passed a bill Wednesday that would cut the Department of Energy's Office of Science's budget by $500 million. While the budget for basic energy science would be significantly affected, the budget does provide a 32% funding boost to the fusion program and calls for funding the international fusion project, ITER.
