St. Louis museum's $162M expansion involves architectural concrete

The design details of a $162 million expansion at the St. Louis Art Museum East Building includes concrete coffers, which will let in "soft, natural light without damaging the art," writes Diane Toroian Keaggy. Designed by British architect David Chipperfield in collaboration with HOK, the new structure also includes a service tunnel that will solve the museum logistical problems, said Brent Benjamin, museum director.
