Students design pressure sensors for prostheses

A team of Los Angeles high school students called Plus Prosthetics has developed a design for Wi-Fi-enabled pressure sensors for prosthetic limbs. Users could create preset pressure levels, allowing them to firmly grasp objects without crushing them. The project, part of the Spirit of Innovation Challenge at Houston’s Johnson Space Center, attracted the attention of a former Department of Defense worker, who forwarded provisional patents for the technology.
