Mich. group adopts "never events" policy

The Michigan Health & Hospital Association said its member hospitals will not bill patients for 11 serious preventable errors or "never events," including hospital-acquired infections, wrong-site or wrong-procedure surgery, and blood incompatibility. The group's patient-safety initiative also will collect data and analyze medical errors to develop best practices.
