California towns hope transit will lure development

Five California cities are awaiting the extension of Los Angeles' light-rail system to their communities in hopes that the transit system will spur development. The Metropolitan Transportation Authority is scheduled to break ground this week on a $690 million extension of its light-rail system from Pasadena through Arcadia, Monrovia, Duarte, Irwindale and Azusa. The project is slated for completion in 2014.
