Report: Financial reform emerges without FTC overhaul

The financial-reform bill wending its way through Congress reportedly had a House-passed overhaul of the Federal Trade Commission removed in conference. The measure would have given the FTC new authority over the advertising industry -- specifically the ability to target ad agencies and media outlets in cases involving misleading claims in product marketing.
