The U.S. government today is expected to release interim rules governing "competitive foods" in schools, which include food that is not part of standard school meals. The "Smart Snacks in Schools" standards will limit calories, fat, sugar and sodium. "It's great to be one step closer to getting junk food out of schools," said Margo Wootan of the Center for Science in the Public Interest.
