House lawmakers consider eliminating new health insurance tax

Lawmakers in the House of Representatives are considering legislation that would eliminate a tax on insurance companies included in the health care reform law. "It isn't really taxing the insurance companies, it's taxing the people paying the premiums, and in this case, that's small-business owners," said Rep. Jim Matheson, D-Utah. The bill has attracted 221 co-sponsors, but it is unclear how lawmakers would make up for the revenue lost by eliminating the fee.
