Making the leap to mobile means picking the right team for the job

As enterprises shift to mobile strategies driven by new workplace models such as bring-your-own-device, IT departments faced with managing the transition are finding there is no easy answer on how best to make the leap. While some companies, such as software developer PerkinElmer, forgo third-party mobility experts in favor of in-house desktop developers with years of experience, experts such as Martin Hudson, CTO of Mobile Data Systems, say developers used to working in legacy platforms tend to be less sensitive to the nuances of mobile. "IT professionals want to do a good job, and this means putting in as much stuff as you can," Hudson says. "With mobile, you have to understand where to draw the line."
