Study assesses point-of-care blood tests in emergency department

Point-of-care testing in the emergency department cost slightly more but resulted in quicker care and disposition compared with laboratory blood testing, according to a study in the Emergency Medicine Journal. The average time to a disposition decision was 3.24 hours with point-of-care testing and 3.50 hours with laboratory tests.
