Study: "ChooseMyPlate" may improve children's eating habits

The U.S. Agriculture Department's ChooseMyPlate.gov program may have a positive effect on school-lunch programs and students' dietary patterns, according to a George Mason University study of elementary-school children in West Virginia. The program included student meetings on health and exercise habits, and study data showed that overweight children who participated reduced their waist circumference more than did children with normal BMI, while everyone ate healthier foods.
