Study links hospital teaching intensity to readmissions

Data from 2,418 hospitals show increased teaching intensity as measured by resident-to-bed ratios raises readmission rates, especially at safety-net facilities, Brigham and Women's Hospital researchers reported in Medical Care. The quality-of-care measures for heart attack, heart failure and pneumonia were similar for all hospitals, the study found.
