2 lawmakers push for Avandia to be withdrawn from the market

A joint statement from Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, and Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., calls on the FDA to withdraw GlaxoSmithKline's Avandia from the market, after two studies confirmed that the drug poses serious risks in diabetics. The first study showed that Avandia increases patients' risk of heart attack, while the second study found that the drug raises the risk for stroke, heart failure and death.
