Red wine ingredient could help prevent eye diseases

A U.S. study found that resveratrol, a component of red wine, appeared to prevent the formation of damaging blood vessels associated with serious eye conditions, including diabetic retinopathy and age-related macular degeneration. Researchers also identified a novel mechanism of resveratrol activity that could lead to new therapies.
