Analysis questions the efficacy of statins in primary prevention

A review of 11 studies showed that cholesterol-lowering statins did not lower mortality rates among patients at high risk of heart disease but without any prior history of the condition. The finding suggests "due consideration is needed in applying statin therapy in lower-risk primary prevention populations," the researchers said.
