Support system benefits patients with diabetes, study suggests

Joining diabetes support groups that train patients to teach others may yield long-term health benefits, a report presented at the annual meeting of the American Diabetes Association suggests. Experts said that participants in the two-year Diabetes Network of St. Louis program had better blood pressure and glucose levels, increased fruit and vegetable consumption, and higher physical-activity rates.
