Safety at stake with new fuel rules, says former NHTSA head

The Obama administration's new regulations on fuel economy could prompt automakers to give up developing crash-avoidance devices, warned Nicole Nason, former chief of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Complying with these rules could prove costly for car companies, which are facing financial woes, she said.
