Disaster-preparedness proposals gain insurer groups' support

Insurance trade groups, including PCI, are supporting the proposed Natural Disaster Mitigation Act, which would enable low-income homeowners to receive a tax credit if they reinforce their properties to lessen damage from hurricanes, earthquakes and other catastrophes. The insurance industry is also supporting another measure that would provide additional aid after major storms to states with effective building codes.
