Kamp: Industry must embrace social media or be left out of the conversation

Industry must engage patients, caregivers and healthcare providers on the Internet -- even in the absence of FDA guidance -- or risk becoming irrelevant, writes John Kamp, executive director, Coalition for Healthcare Communication, in a recent column on the Coalition Web site. Kamp cites data on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter usage that was presented by Palio President Michael Myers at last week’s BIO annual meeting. The data show that pharma currently is behind the social media curve. "If industry leads responsibly, government will follow," Kamp said. "We have a long way to go." Read more.
