Calif. city agrees on wage floor for next contractor

The next janitorial service provider for the city of Mountain View, Calif., will be required to pay union-scale wages to workers in accordance with a Service Employees International Union agreement, according to the City Council. Employees would receive at least $8.50 an hour this year, with 25-cent-per-hour raises in each of the following two years.
