Stanford's latest solar car steps up efficiency, reliability

The latest product of Stanford University's long-running Solar Car Project boasts a 97% efficient solar motor and a cruise speed of 50 mph, according to this article. The car, dubbed Luminos, will compete in the 2,000-mile World Solar Challenge across Australia's Outback. "This year our team focused on improving the total system efficiency of our vehicle through key student-designed innovations while significantly increasing the reliability of our vehicle in the Outback," said Team Director Wesley Ford.
