Hot dog eating contest pays off big for Nathan's

Nathan's might operate eateries in only 27 states, but the chain's highly publicized annual hot dog eating contest has brought global brand recognition that gives it a leg up as it pursues an expansion strategy. The chain, which sold 453 million hot dogs and added 40 new restaurants last year, plans to open the same number in 2011.
