New Jersey begins $900M widening of Garden State Parkway

New Jersey plans to embark on a $900 million widening project for the Garden State Parkway. The project will expand the highway to three lanes along the stretch of road from Toms River to Somers Point. However, the New Jersey chapter of the Sierra Club has objected to the project's effect on "environmentally sensitive coastal areas."
