Microchip Technology is boosting the performance of its 16-bit microcontrollers as some competing vendors opt to leapfrog from 8-bit to 32-bit MCUs. The company's 16-bit dsPIC Digital Signal Controllers and PIC24 MCUs now feature speeds of 60 MIPS.
