Concerns about toxic substances fuel growth of green chemistry

The demand for eco-friendly industrial chemicals and concern about toxic substances are driving the growth of so-called green chemistry, or sustainable chemistry, as an important field of study, according to Nicole Wong in this blog post. Unlike traditional chemistry, green chemistry makes safety a priority in the design of products and processes, Wong said. Green chemistry also works to limit waste and boost the competitiveness of chemical manufacturers and customers, Wong added.
