Experts say the predatory nature of cats causes them to kill birds. To curb bird predation by cats, experts advise keeping felines from roaming outdoors. AVMA in 2001 also approved a resolution urging feline owners to keep their cats indoors to reduce the risk of being injured or killed by road accidents as well as exposure to diseases, according to this article.
