A study of 8,795 patients with high-risk non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome showed those with undiagnosed diabetes face a greater risk of 30-day mortality compared with those who have prediabetes and those without diabetes. More than 12% of the patients had undiagnosed diabetes. The findings in the American Heart Journal suggest routine screening for diabetes may benefit in ACS patients, researchers noted.
