European Parliament seeks ban on food from cloned animals

The European Parliament said commercializing foods derived from cloned animals and their offspring should be prohibited and the sale of food containing nanotech-based ingredients should be temporarily suspended. "Although no safety concerns have been identified so far with meat produced from cloned animals, this technique raises serious issues about animal welfare, reduction of biodiversity, as well as ethical concerns," said French member of Parliament Corinne Lepage.
