New mobile app attracts angel investors

A mobile application called Medlert was developed by South African entrepreneur David Emanuel to help elderly people and patients suffering from chronic illness seek immediate medical assistance in an emergency. The app, which could be used in iPhones and Android devices, leverages several technological developments including geolocation and medical data digitization. Emanuel confirmed he has secured funding totaling $230,000 from several angel investors in the U.S., including Practice Fusion Chief Financial Officer Jason Portnoy.
