General Electric, Airbus in dispute over engine design

General Electric, which supplies engines to both Boeing and Airbus, has declined to design a new engine for the Airbus A350, saying it would compete with an engine it designed for Boeing's 777. GE has offered Airbus a version of the new GEnx engine, created for Boeing's Dreamliner. Airbus executives are unhappy with the suggestion, saying the engine would work only for two of the three proposed A350 models.
