CDC test gains FDA clearance for flu virus detection

The CDC Human Influenza Virus Real-Time RT-PCR Diagnostic Panel, which runs on Life Technologies' Applied Biosystems ABI 7500 Fast Dx Real-Time PCR platform, has received 510(k) clearance from the FDA. The test is used to detect influenza virus A or B strains from viral culture or from viral RNA in patients showing symptoms of respiratory infection.
