Transplant procedure enables patient to regain senses

A near-total facial transplant has helped restore sensations of taste and small for Connie Culp, a patient who underwent the surgery at the Cleveland Clinic four years after she was shot in the face by her husband in 2004. "She has definitely exceeded what I thought would be possible, and I wish all face-transplant patients worldwide would be doing so well," said Dr. Maria Siemionow, who led the transplant surgical team.
