Design firm uses precast for breakthrough architectural works

Matter Design's use of precast reflects its innovative approach to its architectural works as "an intriguing paradox, with one foot in antiquity and another in the computer age," writes Ken Shulman. The Architectural League Prize-winning firm's portfolio includes a precast concrete spiral stairway "built from unreinforced concrete treads that lock together like stones in Incan walls."
