Privatized Medicaid may offer more choices, benefits

States with privatized Medicaid plans offer beneficiaries more choices while saving the states money, Tarren Bragdon, CEO of the think tank Foundation for Government Accountability, said at a House subcommittee hearing. Plans that compete for enrollees offer better benefits and access to specialists, and they must report outcomes and gauge consumer satisfaction, Bragdon said.
