Utah is transitioning to a managed Medicaid dental program in Davis, Salt Lake, Utah and Weber counties in an effort to save money and improve budget predictability. Jim Dunnigan said he expected a smooth transition after meeting with representatives from Delta Dental and Premier Access, which were awarded the Medicaid contracts. State officials said the plans have brought more than 400 dentists onboard, and patients will be allowed to change providers if they are unhappy with theirs.
