Preventing dog bites starts with understanding

While some dog breeds may be more likely to show up in incident reports about biting, responsible pet ownership and behavioral training go much further than breed bans to prevent attacks, experts say. Dogs can show aggression for a variety of reasons, AVMA says, including fear, protective instincts and being chained or isolated, as well as inherited or learned behaviors.
