Asian markets mostly gain after China posts an increase in exports

Share markets across the Asian-Pacific region mostly increased Monday, with investors in Tokyo considering news of an election defeat of the ruling Democratic Party of Japan. The Nikkei 225 slipped 0.4%, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 gained 0.3% and South Korea's Kospi Composite added 0.6%. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index tacked on 0.4%, Taiwan's Taiex inched down 0.1% and China's Shanghai Composite jumped 0.8%. New Zealand's NZX 50 inched up 0.2%, while India's Sensex advanced 0.5% and Singapore's Straits Times Index climbed 0.1% in afternoon trading.
