Stronger family film roles coming into play for females

Females are getting more powerful movie roles in family films thanks to efforts to highlight how women are often not the starring characters in films. There is a growing list of films to illustrate the changes coming into play, from the Hermione Granger character in "Harry Potter" movie franchise to the latest installment of the "Pirates of the Caribbean," featuring the Angelica Malon character, and even children's films such as "Tangled" and its strong-willed Rapunzel.
