Medicaid programs vary in preventive care coverage, study says

The Affordable Care Act does not require existing Medicaid programs to cover preventive health screenings as it does Medicare, which George Washington University researchers said could leave some beneficiaries, including those with disabilities, without access to that care. Their study in Health Affairs found that almost all states cover mammograms and 36 cover pap smears, but less than half include screenings for cholesterol or obesity.
