Premier's senior advocacy exec on health IT provisions in reform bills

CIOs from the Premier health care alliance met with Dr. David Blumenthal, the national coordinator for health IT, to discuss the definition of hospital-based physicians in the context of the ARRA-HITECH legislation and the possibility of using Medicare, Medicaid and total inpatient discharges of hospitals per year as criteria for granting EHR incentives, according to Blair Childs, Premier's senior advocacy executive. In an interview, Childs also said health IT provisions in health reform measures mostly focus on improving quality performance.
