Ex-McDonald's execs enter high-end burger business

Former McDonald's executives and longtime friends Edward Rensi and Tom Dentice will open their first fast-casual burger joint next month in Lombard, Ill. The pair came out of retirement and spent a year developing the Tom & Eddie's menu, which boasts Angus burgers with unusual twists on toppings, including fried eggs and Gouda cheese. Rensi and Dentice are funding the venture with the help of a silent partner, and hope to build a national franchise chain.
