Weak fuel demand hurts 2010 oil-refining capacity, EIA says

Oil-refining capacity has declined for the first time in seven years, said the Energy Information Administration, citing weak fuel demand and the shutdown of two refineries. The country's 148 refineries start 2010 with a capacity of nearly 17.6 million barrels per day, down 87,760 barrels per day from 2009, the agency said.
