ACC sees slight improvement in 2011 chemical outlook despite challenges

The U.S. chemical industry is projected to add to chemical volume sales for 2011 despite regulatory challenges, according to the American Chemistry Council's mid-2011 report. "There have been some encouraging signs of growth. Inventories are not that far out of whack in the supply chain," said ACC chief economist Kevin Swift. "Our nation's economic recovery depends on a strong manufacturing sector. Government regulations should help rather than hinder that effort," said Michael Walls, ACC's vice president of regulatory and technical affairs.
