Plan to tax drug ad expenditures not in health care draft

So far, so good for pharmaceutical companies looking to retain the deductibility of their advertising outlays as a business expense. The health care reform plan from the House Ways and Means Committee raises money instead with additional taxes on high-income Americans. "For the moment, at least, the advertising deductibility is off the table. But certainly moving forward on this, to find various funding methods, everything will be in the mix in the future," AAF Executive Vice President of government affairs Clark Rector said.
