FTC approves Cablevision's deal to buy Bresnan

The Federal Trade Commission has given its thumbs up to the deal that will enable Cablevision Systems to acquire the assets of Bresnan Communications for an estimated $1.37 billion. The deal gives East Coast-centric Cablevision a toehold in Western states such as Colorado, Montana, Wyoming and Utah, where Bresnan serves about 300,000 customers.
