Emerson brings demand response to electric water heaters

Emerson has joined forces with Georgia electric cooperative utility Habersham EMC to pilot a prototype for connected water heater technology that would make it possible to increase energy efficiency through utility controlled demand response. The Electric Water Heater Control project, which is being funded with a $1.6 million Department of Energy smart grid stimulus grant, will lead to commercial sales within six months, Emerson said.
