Experts criticize study conclusions on omega-3, prostate cancer link

An observational study purporting to confirm the relationship between consumption of long-chain omega-3 fatty acids and a heightened risk of prostate cancer has come under fire from experts who dispute its conclusions. "No firm conclusions can be drawn" from the study, which by its nature cannot show cause and effect and wasn't designed to probe the role of omega-3 in prostate cancer, said Michele Sadler, a Health Food Manufacturers' Association scientific adviser.
