Researchers build car for the blind

Blind people have been given a chance to drive in a laser-equipped vehicle built by researchers at Virginia Tech. The lasers assess the road conditions and send the information to the driver, who wears a vest that discerns the vehicle's speed through "force feedback." A tactile map conveys information about the road and surrounding obstacles.
